Research shows that solo traveling is becoming more and more popular within the UK.
An analysis of over 100.000 bookings was done by travel website 101 holidays showing that nearly 35% of those were solo travelers.
Solo traveling is most popular with women
According to the research done by the website, solo traveling seems to be most popular among women since more than half of the bookings (58%) were made by women.
According to award winning travel writer Cathy Winston the ‘lonely hearts stigma’ that haunted many solo travelers for a long time seems to going away little by little.
Furthermore, not every solo traveler has to be single. There are many women who leave their husband or partner at home for a short while and start ticking off items from their good old bucket list. This used to be a rare thing for women even until late into the 20th century.
